John Gilman "View from the Cellar"

The les Preuses bottling from the brothers Dampt hails from a parcel of vines that range from fifty to seventy-two years of age. Thirty-five percent of the cuvée is barrel-fermented and raised in cask, with the balance raised in stainless steel. Their 2018 Preuses offers up a complex nose of apple, wet stone minerality, straw, dried flowers and a hint of paraffin in the upper register. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, focused and has a good core of fruit, with excellent mineral drive and cut, good balance and a long, nascently complex finish. This is really well-structured for a 2018 and could do with a bit of bottle age to fully blossom. It is not the most elegant examples of les Preuses right out of the blocks, but the constituent components here are quite strong and I have the gut feeling that a few years in the cellar will really allow this wine to come into its own. And, by the way, it also happens to be Kosher for Passover, which makes it the best Kosher wine I have ever tasted, but quite some margin! (Drink between 2023-2055)

Antonio Galloni Vinous

The 2018 Chablis Les Preuses Grand Cru (Kosher) is bright and sleek, with terrific energy driving the citrus, orchard fruit, mint, floral and mineral-inflected flavors. There is good depth and intensity to this expressive Grand Cru.
