The Vosne-Romanee Premier Cru Les Rouges du Dessus lies right above Echezeaux Grand Cru adjacent to the Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts.
It is high on the cote and is a slow ripening site influenced by breezes from the Combe d’Orveau – very much a plus in these days of global warming. It is a small vineyard – only 2.62 hectares in total – and the soil is full of tiny pebbles, great for ensuring finesse in the wine.
Domaine Roblot-Marchand have been family winemakers since 1910. Frederic, the current winemaker, is the 4th generation having taken the reigns in 2001 at the tender age of 24. It is a small domaine of just 8.5 hectares with excellent Premier Cru and Villages parcels in Chambolle-Musigny, Vosne-Romanee and Gevrey-Chambertin, as well as a killer Bourgogne Rouge from Chambolle-Musigny.
