Very deep garnet. Cacheux’s Vosne-Romanee has darker fruits than the Chambolle. It is more in the black spectrum with plums, baking spices, liquorice and a kiss of quality oak. The palate is richer, a little less aromatic, more brooding and powerful. The aromatic differences are balanced by a seriously long finish with fine grained tannin supporting the wine. Such is the shape and intensity of the wine that one has to ask Is this really a simple Villages bottling? Or does it, in a small vintage like 2018, actually contain a fair amount of Premier Cru fruit? I would not be surprised. Drink some soon but make sure you pop a few bottles in the cellar. This will age wonderfully.
