The Volnay Santenots is a delightful wine in the making - there seem to be many beautiful Santenots from 2020. It’s both forward and generous, yet it’s not lacking depth and complexity, and will provide excellent drinking over the years. It comes from the sub-terroir Santenots Blanc.

The 2020 Volnay Santenots 1er Cru, which comes from the lieu-dit of Les Santenots Blanc and comes from just 0.09-hectare. It has a well-defined and focused bouquet with a mélange of red and black fruit laced with sous-bois and blood orange. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grainy tannins, superb backbone, real density and focus on the finish. Just a shame there is a paltry single barrel of this Santenots. (Drink between 2025-2045)
