Nose of dark fruits: raspberry, cherry with florals and spices encircling. The palate is fresh and detailed with a silky mouthfeel from the old vines and refined tannins. There is a mineral-laded layer below and a lingering finish. This Champans embodies everything that is great about Volnay; aromatics, texture, length and sheer pleasure.

Medium deep ruby. The bouquet takes a bit of coaxing, but is nonetheless attractively stylish. Some floral aspects, more raspberry than strawberry, some cherry too. This achieves the elegance of Volnay with a fine grain to the tannins, and good length.
