The Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru les Suchots is sandwiched between the Grand Crus Richebourg, Romanee-St-Vivant and Echezeaux. It is only a slight slope that prevents this being Grand Cru land. Never-the-less, as Jasper Morris MW says it is “the source of exceptional wine”. He goes on to say “A typical Suchots begins with the ethereal perfume of a great Vosne-Romanee, but just when you expect it to build in the mouth it seems to fade away. Yet it does not die, and just as you are about to confess a slight feeling of deception you become aware that the subtle flavours still linger on the palate in a most entrancing fashion”.
Noellat have two parcels totalling 1.8 hectares. One is at the top alongside Romanee-St-Vivant, the other is in the middle of the eastern section. The vines are very old - 70 years - which ensures complexity and intensity as well as wonderful aromatics.
