Justin Girardin has quite a patchwork of plots in this relatively cool vineyard: One plot in Grand Clos Rousseau, two in the Petit Clos and one in Fourneaux. There is more clay at this end of the village, which gives a powerful version of Santenay. More crimson than purple, with less immediate fruit on the nose, but there is plenty to follow on the palate, especially towards the back of the mouth. Smoothly sensual red cherry notes, balanced and long. A few tannins here but they are fine-grained. Tasted: February 2021
