Rich purple, an even colour throughout the glass. Robust red fruit. There is a fine depth of flavour and some class here, plump in the middle, juicy and long, filling the mouth again, while keeping a mineral fresh feel too.

A much finer and more polished creation which is a clear step up on the village wine, following the same, pure model and I like it enormously.

The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Perrières 1er Cru has a perfumed, Vosne-like nose that reveals traces of violet with aeration. The palate is taut and crisp, offering mainly black fruit, with a spiciness that elevates it just above the Les Vaucrains. This is promising. (Drink between 2022-2038)
