Pale colour, with very little nose. Perhaps some pears start to emerge. Good flesh on the palate, well balanced by the cut of the acidity, very suave without being too generous, depth and some length.

The 2020 St. Aubin “Perrières” from Monsieur Chartron is another excellent wine. The bouquet jumps from the glass in a fine blend of pear, peach, stony soil tones, orange zest, spring flowers, fresh almond and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and properly reserved out of the blocks (as behooves a premier cru), with a good core of fruit, fine mineral drive and grip, bright acids and a long, focused and quite promising finish. This will only need a year or two in the cellar to really start hitting on all cylinders. 2023-2050.

There is a crisp, minerally fruit aroma of lemon peel and ripe pears, touched with spice and a bit of butter. The wine is marked by the oak at this point, but this should resolve with a bit of age. A delicious wine for mid-term ageing. Produced from 0.29ha of youthful vines on lower
