Jasper Morris MW
Pale lemon, a pleasing generosity to the nose while staying in the fresh apple style of Rully. Nicely balanced, then maybe a hint of pyrazine behind. Racy, light lemon notes, otherwise white fruit, and good length.

Here is a much more mineral, narrower nose. Nice shape and energy in the mouth. Complex, fresh - great Rully - crunchy, fresh, gorgeous wine.

Jean-Michel’s 2020 Rully “Montmorin” bottling was also showing very nicely in early December, having recovered from its mise and offering up a lovely bouquet of apple, pear, lime peel, stony minerality and a deft touch of new oak. On the palate the wine is crisp, full-bodied, long and well-balanced, with a good core and soil signature this year, bright acids and a long, classy finish. Rully has been a strong bottling here since all the way back in the mid-1980s, when I first started selling the Chartron family’s wines. 2022-2035.
