Rich full purple, no whole bunch, meaty but still fresh, 100% new wood experiment on this and all the 1ers crus. This changes the style somewhat but the wine can probably live with it. Some wood tannins at the finish, alongside medium bodied deep red fruit. Tasted: November 2019.

Vinous Media - Neal MArtin

The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Combottes 1er Cru includes no whole bunch and is matured entirely in new oak. I have to admit that the 100% new wood dominates the nose and speaks more of the cooperage than the vineyard. The palate is ripe and a little chewy on the entry, the fruit just about able to support the oak, although I cannot help thinking that 50% or 60% new oak would have suited it better. Drink 2023-2040.

Wine Advocate - William Kelley

The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Combottes exhibits notes of cherries, grilled squab, dark chocolate and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied palate that's rich and succulent, with a sweet core of ripe fruit and powdery structuring tannins, concluding with a long finish.
