Aux Bas de Combe is at the northern end of Nuits-St-Georges right on the Vosne-Romanee border. It adjoins Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Aux Boudots and the Vosne-Romanee 1er Crus Les Malconsorts, Les Chaumes and Clos des Reas. La Tache is only 250 metres away. One has to say this is a pretty good site!
A very aromatic nose. Red and black fruits with some wafting spice. It is the palate of this wine that makes it truly special. The fruit weight and balance is impeccable - it is silky and simply gorgeous in the mouth. Gentle, ripe fruits abound with fine, chalky tannins behind. Very Vosne-Romanee in style. The intensity and complexity no doubt come from the 100 year old vines.
