Jancis Robinson

Vines planted in 1959 on clayey sand on Bathonian limestone in the far north-eastern corner of Échezeaux at 270 m. Mid garnet colour and star bright. Richer, more concentrated and less aromatic than the Vosne Croix Rameau grown to the south. More savoury, less sweet with even a light note of both cheese and walnuts(!). This should have quite a long life but is not yet that communicative. Really builds on the finish in a classic burgundian way. Keep this for a while. I may even be suggesting broaching it too early …

Gilbert & Gaillard

Light hued orangy-brown highlights. Mature nose marrying jammy and candied notes with elegant aromas of undergrowth. The palate show incredible fullness. Ethereal fat, power and finesse with ubiquitous freshness. A magnificent Echezeaux.

Wine Enthusiast - Roger Voss

Lifted red currant, gunpowder and flint shoot from the glass, announcing their insistence and pervasiveness. On the slender but concentrated palate, light gaminess plays around the edges, becoming more intense alongside the redcurrant core. This is an incisive and statuesque wine that holds a quiet sense of power. Editor's Choice.
