The plot is situated in mid-valley, on the reverse slope, planted in 1972. In barrel, as yet unracked. This will go to tank before the harvest and be bottled the following March. Clear pale colour with the lightest green tint. The fruit is fighting to emerge from behind the, somewhat, buttery barrel. This shows the slightly Côte d’Or, muscular character, which is typical of Valmur. Less mineral, but it does have grand cru intensity. Tasted: July 2020

A bigger nose - showing some barrel in the concentration. Direct - very direct - so mineral, green citrus, salinity and again some barrel. Keep for 2-3 years, but the shape and style here are excellent. There’s extra clarity to the lip-smacking finishing flavour too.

The 2019 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru has a tropical-driven bouquet that reflects the growing season more than the terroir. The palate is clean, fresh and lightly spiced, with attractive orange peel and quince notes and fine acidity. Quite linear toward the finish, yet classy and refined. This is an attractive Valmur that should drink well in its youth, yet has the substance to age. (Drink between 2023-2038)
